Modeled Moment: Race to the Letter Sound
Once your child knows the names of a few letters, you can begin connecting some of the sounds to those letters. Start with letters that are most relevant to your child like the first letters in the names of friends and family members. Write a few letters on separate pieces of paper and place them a distance away from you. Ask your child to run find the letter that has a particular sound. For example, "Can you find the letter that makes the ssss sound in Sam?"
